I've just searched for 'blog', using the search box in the upper-right, and experience these problems:

  1. The search often yields "no results", although I can see a page navigator at the bottom, comprising more than 15 pages.
  2. If I click "next", I also mostly get "no results". Clicking a page number directly usually does deliver results, but not always.
  3. This project is listed as the first hit on every results page:

I'd prefer the list of results to be unique.

I'm using FF3 on Linux.

Thanks for your detailed bug report. I've already taken care of point no. 3 on your list. I'm currently investigating points 1 and 2. Does it matter whether or not you're logged in for issues 1 and 2 to happen? Do you have any/many project or tag filters set in your account?

As a pre-emptive measure, I have just performed an upgrade of the client library we're using to interface with Solr, our search engine. Please let me know if you're still seeing those more or less blank pages.

    Thanks.

This sounds like it could be a database timeout issue perhaps?

I could imagine the result count (which I'd imagine drives the navigation) being pulled separately to the actual results. This would explain why the navigation still works but are inconsistent from the results.

It's purely an observation as I have no idea of the architecture of this website but from my own development work might explain the issue.

    Regards,

    Craig

    Craig,

the results and the pagination base are both calculated in Solr and independently of the database. We're definitely not seeing any timeouts.

    Thanks for chiming in.

    Best,
    Patrick

Can you please get back to us and report whether or not the recent measures have improved the search engine reliability at all? Thanks.

    Hi Patrick,

I wasn't experiencing any issues at all - so can't really comment on whether any changes have been an improvement.

I think the original poster ("dev") might have more of an insight - my comments were purely speculation - sorry for any confusion.

Alright. Please reopen this if you find something that needs fixing.

    Thanks,
